Provincial Fire Liaison Committee
The Provincial Fire Liaison Committee (PFLC) is a collaborative platform led by Alberta Municipal Affairs, created to strengthen communication, collaboration, and support across Alberta's fire service. IAFF Alberta sits on the committee alongside the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association, the Alberta Industrial Fire and Emergency Management Association, First Nations Fire Services, Metis Settlements, Alberta Municipalities, Rural Municipalities of Alberta, and fire services from Edmonton and Calgary.
About the Committee
What It Does
The PFLC provides a province-wide forum for developing and sharing information across the fire service, and establishes sub-working groups to tackle complex or emerging issues — including building service capacity and addressing recruitment and retention challenges facing fire departments across Alberta.
Why It Exists
The committee was created in part to fulfill an Alberta Municipalities resolution calling for a wildfire prevention committee to improve coordination between municipalities and the provincial government.
